The Ministry of Media Holds ‘Media Suhoor’ in its Second Edition

His Excellency the Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary sponsored the "Media Suhoor" gathering in its second edition on Tuesday in Riyadh, in the presence of a number of ministers, officials, and media professionals.

"The Media Suhoor has become an annual tradition where we embrace ideas, draw the features of the desired tomorrow, meet with partners of the media ecosystem, leaders of media institutions, and those working in institutional communication,” H.E. Al-Dossary said in his speech. “We strengthen communication between the Ministry and those interested and specialized, and support opportunities for cooperation and partnerships in various fields," he continued.

During the ‘Year of Media Transformation 2024’, the Ministry raised the slogan "Strategies and Priorities" to achieve transformation in the sector. It has established three harmonized media academies that aim at training more than 4,000 trainees within two years, through three educational tracks containing 50 theoretical and practical subjects and specialized programs, in partnership with major international universities.

Saudi media will be a key player and not just an observer when it comes to artificial intelligence, confirmed H.E. Al-Dossary. The Ministry is working to benefit from and contribute to the fields of AI, in light of the rapid global growth in this sector. A Center of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence has been established with national cadres, and an AI Center for Media and the Future Camp of Generative AI for Media in partnership with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). More than 2,000 young men and women have been trained in modern internal and external programs and courses. He went on to say that the news of the future will be written with algorithms of inspiration and displayed on a large screen called the Saudi Dream.

The Ministry of Media contributes to developing the sector through restructuring and developing its various departments. A special unit for media economics has been established to increase the sector's contribution to the GDP, noting that opportunities are great and there is no room for complacency.

H.E. Al-Dossary revealed that the Ministry seeks to organize an international forum for young influencers this year, hold a monthly meeting for ministers with media professionals, work on developing the Saudi Media Forum, and hold a Government Communication meeting in AlUla in October. He indicated that the Ministry aspires for next year's Media Suhoor gathering to be dedicated to a dialogue about Saudi media at Expo 2030, as a contribution from the Ministry in developing media plans and preparations for the global event that will be hosted by "Riyadh of the Future.”

The Media Suhoor gathering aims at achieving the desired goals by supporting opportunities for cooperation and partnerships among those interested and specialized, and exchanging experiences.

During the gathering, a friendly and constructive dialogue took place to develop various fields of media and communication in the Year of Media Transformation. The dialogue addressed prominent issues and diverse topics in the media sector, with the participation of government and media leaders.

Before the Media Suhoor, the Board of Directors of the Saudi Media Academy held its first meeting, chaired by H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Maghlouth, Deputy Minister of Media. It discussed all topics listed on its agenda and approved a number of decisions.
