Minister of Media Cements Media Ties with Kuwait Through Saudi-Kuwaiti News Agencies MoU

The Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, received on March 7 H.E. Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary while on an official visit to Kuwait with an accompanying Saudi delegation. During the reception, the deep fraternal, strategic, and historical close relations between the two countries were underlined.

The reception was attended by H.H. Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khaled Al-Saud, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the State of Kuwait, and H.E. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, the Minister of Information and Culture of the State of Kuwait.

A meeting between H.E. Al-Dossary and H.E. Al-Mutairi saw them discuss areas of mutual interest and ways to bolster collaboration in the media sphere, like exploring opportunities to support the training of media professionals in both countries and facilitating the exchange of expertise.

The Media Minister also met with a number of Kuwaiti media professionals from various media sectors and held an open meeting on this occasion, during which the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), represented by its President Dr. Fahd bin Hassan Al Aqran, and the Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA), represented by its Director-General Dr. Fatima Saud Al-Salem, signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation and news exchange.

It is noteworthy that SPA has signed more than 30 agreements in the same fields that align with the work of the Cultural and Media Affairs Committee that emerge from the many Saudi coordination councils. Such agreements affirm the agency's keenness to enhance its news work and expand its partnerships with Gulf, Arab, and international news agencies. This stems from the Saudi Cabinet's approval of SPA's guiding model for a draft MoU for cooperation and news exchange with its counterparts in other countries.
